Septic Tips for Thanksgiving
There are many things we can be thankful for at Thanksgiving; is your septic system one of them? Most of the time, your septic system is out-of-sight and out-of-mind – but we don’t often realize that our septic system keeps our families and pets healthy. Without having your septic system to treat your household wastewater, we’d be exposed to many waterborne pathogens that can cause serious issues. If you are thankful for your septic system and want to keep it working well during the holidays, here are a few tips to follow.
- Clean your septic tank to reduce the chance of premature system failure and reduce the chance of backups.
- Don’t stuff left overs, potato peels, egg shells, etc. down the garbage disposal or drain.
- If having guests, spread out usage from showers, laundry, etc. to avoid hydraulic overload.
- Don’t allow guests to park over any portion of your septic system.
