Your aerobic system’s health is not determined by the infrequency of part replacement. If your technician is not regularly servicing your system and replacing basic parts, it’s a sign that he’s not doing his job!
Think about this: if you don’t check your car’s tire pressure, replace filters, or get it inspected for a year will it perform to the best of its abilities? Your car may still run, but that doesn’t mean it’s running well.
The same goes for your aerobic system. It’s still usable without proper maintenance and part replacement, but lack of maintenance leads to problems and more repair expenses down the road. If your system is not operating to its fullest capacity, chances are it’s not treating wastewater as well as it could. This is not only a functionality concern but also a health hazard concern.
While there are certainly times technicians perform maintenance and find everything to be operable with no repairs immediately necessary, aerator filters and diffusers should be replaced about every 8 months. There are many functioning parts on your aerobic system, so wear and tear is normal.
If you notice your technician is not routinely replacing parts on your aerobic system, inquire for an inspection report to ensure all components are consistently checked and maintained. If you’re not sure what your technician should be checking and replacing periodically, here are some of our recommendations that we follow here at Van Delden:
- For the first two years from the date of purchase, we will inspect your aerobic system on a routine basis for operational problems.
- While our competitors only check 7 to 10 items, we routinely inspect 20 different items to ensure your system is operating to its fullest capability.
- Service on electrical and mechanical components will be performed at no charge if such components are found to be defective.
- After the two year guaranteed service period, we will provide an annual service contract to help ensure that your aerobic system remains in excellent condition.
