- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup vinegar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
The baking soda acts as a natural scrub, the vinegar disinfects, and the lemon leaves behind a gentle, non-overpowering smell.
Occasional chemical use won’t destroy your septic tank
Using harsh cleaners occasionally is probably not going to affect your septic system too much; most things are okay in moderation, so just use those cleaners sparingly and the effect on your system should be minimal.
Thanks to the “going green” movement, there’s a lot more “all-natural” cleaning products out there — look for products that are bleach-free, ammonia-free, dye-free, low-sudsing, etc.
