Septic Tank Cleanings

Septic Tank Cleanings

To ensure the longevity of your septic system, the most important step is to have your septic tank cleaned regularly. Our uniformed tank-cleaning technicians are thoroughly trained to pump and clean your tank while checking the condition of the tank, lids, baffles, and walls.

Once you’re part of our service system, we’ll remind you every three years when it’s time to pump out your tank, so you can rest easy knowing your system is well taken care of.

Septic Tank Cleanings

The primary purpose of a septic tank is to act as a trap or separator for wastewater. As wastewater enters the tank, solid waste is trapped while an equal amount of treated wastewater (effluent) exits the tank.

Although the effluent is treated, it still contains some particles of solid waste, which are slowly processed in the drainfield by anaerobic bacteria. Over time, some waste matter that the bacteria cannot digest settles in the drainfield, potentially clogging the soil, gravel, and perforated piping.

Heavier waste settles at the bottom of the tank, forming a layer called “sludge,” while lighter waste and greases float to the top, creating a layer known as “scum.” The clarified effluent is drawn out from between these two layers by gravity and directed into the drainfield.

The quality of effluent entering the drainfield directly impacts its longevity. Thicker layers of sludge and scum result in more waste particles entering the drainfield, leading to faster clogging and a shorter system lifespan.

It’s essential to have your septic tank pumped by a registered and licensed service company, with waste disposed of according to EPA and TCEQ regulations.
