How To Choose A Quality Septic Company

With such a wide variety of septic system installers also comes a wide variety of the qualities you may be looking for in a septic company. What are you looking for?

From our experience, price and quality are reflective of each other. It doesn’t seem like the lowest price installation has good quality, and it doesn’t seem like the good quality systems have the lowest price. That’s not to say it doesn’t exist, but as the old saying goes “you get what you pay for”, and it seems true even in the septic system industry.

If you aren’t sure what your priorities are for finding your installer, here are a few things to consider:

Price

Blogs

Of course! No one wants to pay more than needed. But, sometimes the lowest price bid ends up costing more after hidden costs (such as design, permitting, rock-hammering, haul off, warranty, replanting of grass, landscaping, repairing irrigation lines, etc.). Be sure you know what your bid includes and doesn’t include so that you can compare “apples to apples”.

Quality & Workmanship
All septic systems are the same right? That is far from true. There are many ways installers can cut corners. Does it hurt to have the entire top of your tank showing the yard? Not usually, but do you really want to look at it in your yard? This is just one example of cutting corners – not digging deep enough for the tank to be set below grade. Why? Because it can take longer, more labor, more rock hammering, etc. It’s quicker and cheaper for an installer to get in-and-out. There are countless examples of this.

Reputation & Warranty
A warranty is only as good as the company providing it. If an issue arises after installation but the company won’t return your phone call or is no longer in business, that doesn’t do anybody any good. In general with most industries, you’ll likely find lower prices with newer/smaller companies than with companies that have been in business along time and have a solid reputation.

These are just a few things to consider when choosing a septic company. With a wide variety of companies to choose from, there is likely one for your priority in choosing a company, whether its price or quality or anything between. Just be sure you know what each company offers. Ask for the estimate to be detailed with what is/is not included so that you can be better informed and make the best decision.
