How do you choose the right septic contractor for your home? Whether you need a whole new system or only require a tank cleaning, you can protect yourself from unscrupulous contractors by asking these two important questions.
1. What’s included in the estimate?
Does the price quoted include locating your septic tank, digging up the lids, extra volume of water if the tank is backed up, and dump fees? For septic system installations, be sure you are comparing apples to apples. Ask for an itemized estimate so you can easily compare quotes. Consider system sizing, system brand, warranty, service after installation, upgrades, design, permitting, after-installation costs such as irrigation repairs, topsoil, landscaping, and fence repair.
2. What’s not included?
You may find a low price, but the add-ons will surprise you. Some companies aren’t upfront with all their a-la-carte fees while others (like us) include most everything in their pricing. Also check if the septic company pays workers compensation insurance. You’ll be protected from lawsuits if a septic contractor is injured while working on your property.
Checking your facts is key before committing to a contractor to work on your property, and we’re here every step of the way to help you make the right decision. There are loads of septic contractors in the area, and we’ve found that evaluating costs up front can save you many dollars and headaches.
