Silent Aerobic Saboteurs: Ants

Posted on

Ants are known to be destroyers of electrical components in general. But what about when it comes to aerobic systems? Ants are a huge problem for aerobic systems and the technicians that service them.

Even systems that are serviced regularly can have ant problems. Ant mounts can start in just a matter of days, and continue to grow the longer they go untreated. Most aerobic systems are checked several times per year, which leaves plenty of time for ants to mound between service visits. In most cases, if the system is serviced regularly, and ants are treated quickly, there usually is not too much damage to electrical components. However, the hazard for the technician can be great – especially if they are allergic to ants. In some cases, ants may prohibit the technician from servicing the system, which can be a domino effect on the system components if they are not serviced.

What components of the aerobic system can be affected? Here are just a few:

  • Aerator
  • Control Panel
  • Timer
  • Photocell
  • Alarms
  • Wiring
  • Lids
  • Junction Boxes

If you notice ants near your aerobic system, don’t delay treatment. If your technician has recommended to keep on top of the ants, please do so out of respect for your system and the technicians.

If you need your aerobic system serviced, we’d be happy to help! Give us a call (and check for ants before service!).
