How Much Will It Cost to Clean My Septic Tank?
When we are scheduling a septic tank cleaning for a first-time customer one of the most common questions we hear is, “How much will this cost?” It is actually about the same or less than if you were paying monthly city sewer fees, however septic tank cleaning prices will vary based on several factors.
- What type of system you have – Aerobic, Standard, Low-Pressure Dosing, etc. each require slightly different cleaning methods.
- How many tanks you have – Aerobic and Low-Pressure Dosing systems always have more capacity, but Standard septic systems can have multiple tanks as well.
- Digging fees – If your lids are buried, you may be required to dig them up, or the company may do that for you (check to see if there is an extra charge for digging).
- Dump fees – A pumping/cleaning price may or may not include dump fees for the truck to empty the waste that was removed from your tank. Check with your septic provider.
There are other factors that can affect the cost of cleaning your septic tank, but these are the most common.
Unlike many other routine chores — like changing the oil in your car — you don’t have to clean your septic tank very often — septic tank cleaning is recommended every 3-5 years.
Just like with your car, though, skipping routine maintenance can cause damage to your system and cost you more in the long run.
