What Is An OSSF?

An OSSF is an On-Site Sewerage Facility. There are many types of OSSFs. Today there are many types of liquid waste disposal systems. The most common is the standard septic system, aerobic system and low-pressure dosing system. Although the term “septic system” is still used as a generic term, all systems types come under the heading of On-Site Sewerage Facilities or OSSFs.

All OSSFs are regulated by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and the local regulating authority (such as Bexar, Kendall, Comal counties or smaller communities such as Hollywood Park, Shavano Park, Hill Country Village, etc.).
